Sometimes Charlie wondered if the real world still existed, if life and time had kept going outside the island, or if the world had ended and they were all that was left. Sometimes he wondered if this was all part of a drug-induced hallucination. God knows, he'd had some doozies, but never anything this real. Most of all, he wondered what would happen if they were rescued. On the island, Charlie was a killer, a kidnapper, and he might be as crazy as everyone thought... but he was no longer an addict. To Charlie, that was reason enough to stay.

There are reasons to go back to civilization. Running water. Peanut butter. No jungle full of crazy people kidnapping children and killing people.

There are also reasons not to. With all the hype about the plane's disappearance, DriveShaft would be in the news and all publicity is good, right? Plus, they'd been raised to never speak ill of the dead, or presumed-dead, so Charlie knows Liam's daughters are hearing only good things about their Uncle Charlie. He likes the thought of being remembered favorably.

As the days pass, Charlie begins to mind it less that the island is more home.

Sawyer drabble for Krystal. posted May 25 2006

Caught in a net. Apparently the Doc had meant that literally, but it still rolled around in Sawyer's mind as a good euphamism. Because he had fucked Ana, and she had been killed with the gun she stole from him. So he had joined this little hike out of some misplaced feelings of... guilt? regret? vengence? Didn't matter.

He should have backed out when Michael refused to let Sayid come along, because that whole situation felt off. But he joined up anyway, the ripple-effect consequence of a rough and tumble in the jungle, and now he's the one caught.

for [livejournal.com profile] nymphadora17, who asked for LOST, Kate/Sawyer, stars. 100 words. Posted 1-03-07.

"Have you ever seen such bright stars?"

"Only in your eyes, Freckles," Sawyer teased, knowing his charm didn't always work well on Kate, and such a fine line of bullshit would be hard to pull off anyway. Sure enough, Kate swatted at him and went back to studying the constellations.

She was right though. One of the very few advantages of this godforsaken island was the view.

Later that night, when he was looking down at her as they lay entwined, Sawyer saw the night sky reflected in her eyes and thought to himself the stars looked even better there.
